(یہ) بڑی عزت والے، بڑے رحم والے (رب) کا نازل کردہ ہے

Yousuf AliIt is a Revelation sent down by (Him), the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

[036:006]		Litunthira qawman ma onthiraabaohum fahum ghafiloona لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أُنذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ

 Ù„تنذر قوما ما انذر اباؤهم فهم غافلون
تاکہ آپ اس قوم کو ڈر سنائیں جن کے باپ دادا کو (بھی) نہیں ڈرایا گیا سو وہ غافل ہیں

Yousuf AliIn order that thou mayest admonish a people, whose fathers had received no admonition, and who therefore remain heedless (of the Signs of Allah).

[036:007]		Laqad haqqa alqawlu AAalaaktharihim fahum la yu/minoona لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

 Ù„قد حق القول علي اكثرهم فهم لا يؤمنون
درحقیقت اُن کے اکثر لوگوں پر ہمارا فرمان (سچ) ثابت ہو چکا ہے سو وہ ایمان نہیں لائیں گے

Yousuf AliThe Word is proved true against the greater part of them: for they do not believe.

[036:008]		Inna jaAAalna fee aAAnaqihimaghlalan fahiya ila al-athqani fahummuqmahoona إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلاَلاً فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ

 Ø§Ù†Ø§ جعلنا في اعناقهم اغلالا فهي الي الاذقان فهم مقمحون
بیشک ہم نے اُن کی گردنوں میں طوق ڈال دیئے ہیں تو وہ اُن کی ٹھوڑیوں تک ہیں، پس وہ سر اوپر اٹھائے ہوئے ہیں

Yousuf AliWe have put yokes round their necks right up to their chins, so that their heads are forced up (and they cannot see).

[036:009]		WajaAAalna min bayni aydeehim saddanwamin khalfihim saddan faaghshaynahum fahum la yubsiroona وَجَعَلْنَا مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ
Tahir ul Qadri

 ÙˆØ¬Ø¹Ù„نا من بين ايديهم سدا ومن خلفهم سدا فاغشيناهم فهم لا يبصرون
اور ہم نے اُن کے آگے سے (بھی) ایک دیوار اور اُن کے پیچھے سے (بھی) ایک دیوار بنا دی ہے، پھر ہم نے اُن (کی آنکھوں) پر پردہ ڈال دیا ہے سو وہ کچھ نہیں دیکھتے

Yousuf AliAnd We have put a bar in front of them and a bar behind them, and further, We have covered them up; so that they cannot see.

[036:010]		Wasawaon AAalayhim aanthartahumam lam tunthirhum la yu/minoona وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ

 ÙˆØ³ÙˆØ§Ø¡ عليهم ءانذرتهم ام لم تنذرهم لا يؤمنون
اور اُن پر برابر ہے خواہ آپ انہیں ڈرائیں یا انہیں نہ ڈرائیں وہ ایمان نہ لائیں گے

Yousuf AliThe same is it to them whether thou admonish them or thou do not admonish them: they will not believe.

[036:011]		Innama tunthiru mani ittabaAAaalththikra wakhashiya alrrahmanabialghaybi fabashshirhu bimaghfiratin waajrin kareemin إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَن بِالْغَيْبِ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ

 Ø§Ù†Ù…ا تنذر من اتبع الذكر وخشي الرحمن بالغيب فبشره بمغفرة واجر كريم
آپ تو صرف اسی شخص کو ڈر سناتے ہیں جو نصیحت کی پیروی کرتا ہے اور خدائے رحمان سے بن دیکھے ڈرتا ہے، سو آپ اسے بخشش اور بڑی عزت والے اجر کی خوشخبری سنا دیں

Yousuf AliThou canst but admonish such a one as follows the Message and fears the (Lord) Most Gracious, unseen: give such a one, therefore, good tidings, of Forgiveness and a Reward most generous.

[036:012]		Inna nahnu nuhyeealmawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahumwakulla shay-in ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeenin إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ

 Ø§Ù†Ø§ نحن نحي الموتي ونكتب ما قدموا واثارهم وكل شئ احصيناه في امام مبين
بیشک ہم ہی تو مُردوں کو زندہ کرتے ہیں اور ہم وہ سب کچھ لکھ رہے ہیں جو (اَعمال) وہ آگے بھیج چکے ہیں، اور اُن کے اثرات (جو پیچھے رہ گئے ہیں)، اور ہر چیز کو ہم نے روشن کتاب (لوحِ محفوظ) میں احاطہ کر رکھا ہے

Yousuf AliVerily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence).

[036:013]		Waidrib lahum mathalan as-habaalqaryati ith jaaha almursaloona وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلاً أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

 ÙˆØ§Ø¶Ø±Ø¨ لهم مثلا اصحاب القرية اذ جاءها المرسلون
اور آپ اُن کے لئے ایک بستی (انطاکیہ) کے باشندوں کی مثال (حکایۃً) بیان کریں، جب اُن کے پاس کچھ پیغمبر آئے

Yousuf AliSet forth to them, by way of a parable, the (story of) the Companions of the City. Behold!, there came messengers to it.

[036:014]		Ith arsalna ilayhimu ithnaynifakaththaboohuma faAAazzazna bithalithinfaqaloo inna ilaykum mursaloona إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ

 Ø§Ø° ارسلنا اليهم اثنين فكذبوهما فعززنا بثالث فقالوا انا اليكم مرسلون
جبکہ ہم نے اُن کی طرف (پہلے) دو (پیغمبر) بھیجے تو انہوں نے ان دونوں کو جھٹلا دیا پھر ہم نے (ان کو) تیسرے (پیغمبر) کے ذریعے قوت دی، پھر اُن تینوں نے کہا: بیشک ہم تمہاری طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں

Yousuf AliWhen We (first) sent to them two messengers, they rejected them: But We strengthened them with a third: they said, "Truly, we have been sent on a mission to you."
 |اذ - when/where/if | ارسلنا - we were sent | اليهم - to them | اثنين - two | فكذبوهما - so they denied them (b)/so they falsified them/so they made them liars | فعززنا - null| بثالث - null| فقالوا - null| انا - hours | اليكم - to you (p) | مرسلون - sent/being sent |

[036:015]		Qaloo ma antum illabasharun mithluna wama anzala alrrahmanumin shay-in in antum illa takthiboona قَالُوا مَا أَنتُمْ إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنزَلَ الرَّحْمَن مِن شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلاَّ تَكْذِبُونَ
Tahir ul Qadri

 Ù‚الوا ما انتم الا بشر مثلنا وما انزل الرحمن من شئ ان انتم الا تكذبون
(بستی والوں نے) کہا: تم تو محض ہماری طرح بشر ہو اور خدائے رحمان نے کچھ بھی نازل نہیں کیا، تم فقط جھوٹ بول رہے ہو

Yousuf AliThe (people) said: "Ye are only men like ourselves; and (Allah) Most Gracious sends no sort of revelation: ye do nothing but lie."
 |قالوا - they said | ما - what| انتم - are you (p)/did you/do you | الا - blessings | بشر - null| مثلنا - similar to us/equal to us/alike to us | وما - null| انزل - is -- descended | الرحمن - the most gracious| من - of| شئ - null| ان - that| انتم - are you (p)/did you/do you | الا - blessings | تكذبون - you (p) lie/you deny/you falsify/ lying (p)/denying/falsifying |

[036:016]		Qaloo rabbuna yaAAlamu innailaykum lamursaloona قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ

 Ù‚الوا ربنا يعلم انا اليكم لمرسلون
(پیغمبروں نے) کہا: ہمارا رب جانتا ہے کہ ہم یقیناً تمہاری طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں

Yousuf AliThey said: "Our Lord doth know that we have been sent on a mission to you:
 |قالوا - they said | ربنا - our lord | يعلم - null| انا - hours | اليكم - to you (p) | لمرسلون - sent/messengers (e) |

[036:017]		Wama AAalayna illaalbalaghu almubeenu وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلاَّ الْبَلاَغُ الْمُبِينُ
Tahir ul Qadri

 ÙˆÙ…ا علينا الا البلاغ المبين
اور واضح طور پر پیغام پہنچا دینے کے سوا ہم پر کچھ لازم نہیں ہے

Yousuf Ali"And our duty is only to proclaim the clear Message."

[036:018]		Qaloo inna tatayyarnabikum la-in lam tantahoo lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnaAAathabun aleemun قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Tahir ul Qadri

 Ù‚الوا انا تطيرنا بكم لئن لم تنتهوا لنرجمنكم وليمسكنم منا عذاب اليم
(بستی والوں نے) کہا: ہمیں تم سے نحوست پہنچی ہے اگر تم واقعی باز نہ آئے تو ہم تمہیں یقیناً سنگ سار کر دیں گے اور ہماری طرف سے تمہیں ضرور دردناک عذاب پہنچے گا

Yousuf AliThe (people) said: "for us, we augur an evil omen from you: if ye desist not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed will be inflicted on you by us."
 |قالوا - they said | انا - hours | تطيرنا - we had a bad omen/(you are a bad omen to us) | بكم - with you (p)/on you/by you/to you/from you/at you | لئن - null| لم - why/for what/for what reason/for what purpose/wherefore | تنتهوا - you (p) end/you terminate/you stop | لنرجمنكم - we will stone you (p/e) | وليمسكنم - null| منا - bragging/reminding repiticiously of kind acts done which leads to resentment/blessing/(releasing war prisoners) | عذاب - null| اليم - painful |

[036:019]		Qaloo ta-irukum maAAakum a-in thukkirtumbal antum qawmun musrifoona قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَّعَكُمْ أَئِن ذُكِّرْتُم بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ

 Ù‚الوا طائركم معكم ائن ذكرتم بل انتم قوم مسرفون
(پیغمبروں نے) کہا: تمہاری نحوست تمہارے ساتھ ہے، کیا یہ نحوست ہے کہ تمہیں نصیحت کی گئی، بلکہ تم لوگ حد سے گزر جانے والے ہو

Yousuf AliThey said: "Your evil omens are with yourselves: (deem ye this an evil omen). If ye are admonished? Nay, but ye are a people transgressing all bounds!"

[036:020]		Wajaa min aqsa almadeenatirajulun yasAAa qala ya qawmi ittabiAAooalmursaleena وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ

 ÙˆØ¬Ø§Ø¡ من اقصا المدينة رجل يسعي قال يا قوم اتبعوا المرسلين
اور شہر کے پرلے کنارے سے ایک آدمی دوڑتا ہوا آیا، اس نے کہا: اے میری قوم! تم پیغمبروں کی پیروی کرو

Yousuf AliThen there came running, from the farthest part of the City, a man, saying, "O my people! Obey the messengers:
 |وجاء - null| من - of| اقصا - farthest of | المدينة - null| رجل - a man | يسعي - null| قال - he said/said | يا - oh| قوم - my nation | اتبعوا - null| المرسلين - the messengers |

[036:021]		IttabiAAoo man la yas-alukum ajranwahum muhtadoona اتَّبِعُوا مَن لاَّ يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ

 Ø§ØªØ¨Ø¹ÙˆØ§ من لا يسالكم اجرا وهم مهتدون
ایسے لوگوں کی پیروی کرو جو تم سے کوئی معاوضہ نہیں مانگتے اور وہ ہدایت یافتہ ہیں

Yousuf Ali"Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have themselves received Guidance.
 |اتبعوا - null| من - of| لا - no| يسالكم - asks you (p)/questions you/ask you/question you (p) | اجرا - a reward/a wage/a fee | وهم - null| مهتدون - are guided (p) |

[036:022]		Wama liya la aAAbudu allatheefataranee wa-ilayhi turjaAAoona وَمَا لِي لاَ أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

 ÙˆÙ…ا لي لا اعبد الذي فطرني واليه ترجعون
اور مجھے کیا ہے کہ میں اس ذات کی عبادت نہ کروں جس نے مجھے پیدا فرمایا ہے اور تم (سب) اسی کی طرف لوٹائے جاؤ گے

Yousuf Ali"It would not be reasonable in me if I did not serve Him Who created me, and to Whom ye shall (all) be brought back.

[036:023]		Aattakhithu min doonihi alihatanin yuridni alrrahmanu bidurrin la tughniAAannee shafaAAatuhum shay-an wala yunqithooni أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَن بِضُرٍّ لاَّ تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يُنقِذُونِ

 Ø¡Ø§ØªØ®Ø° من دونه الهة ان يردن الرحمن بضر لا تغن عني شفاعتهم شيئا ولا ينقذون
کیا میں اس (اللہ) کو چھوڑ کر ایسے معبود بنا لوں کہ اگر خدائے رحمان مجھے کوئی تکلیف پہنچانا چاہے تو نہ مجھے اُن کی سفارش کچھ نفع پہنچا سکے اور نہ وہ مجھے چھڑا ہی سکیں

Yousuf Ali"Shall I take (other) gods besides Him? If (Allah) Most Gracious should intend some adversity for me, of no use whatever will be their intercession for me, nor can they deliver me.
 |ءاتخذ - null| من - of| دونه - other than him/besides him/without him/excluding him/with the exclusion of him/lacking him | الهة - null| ان - that| يردن - he wants me/he wills me/he intends me | الرحمن - the most gracious| بضر - with harm | لا - no| تغن - null| عني - null| شفاعتهم - null| شيئا - null| ولا - But not| ينقذون - null|

[036:024]		Innee ithan lafee dalalinmubeenin إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلاَلٍ مُّبِينٍ

 Ø§Ù†ÙŠ اذا لفي ضلال مبين
بے شک تب تو میں کھلی گمراہی میں ہوں گا

Yousuf Ali"I would indeed, if I were to do so, be in manifest Error.

[036:025]		Innee amantu birabbikum faismaAAooni إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ

 Ø§Ù†ÙŠ امنت بربكم فاسمعون
بے شک میں تمہارے رب پر ایمان لے آیا ہوں، سو تم مجھے (غور سے) سنو

Yousuf Ali"For me, I have faith in the Lord of you (all): listen, then, to me!"

[036:026]		Qeela odkhuli aljannata qala yalayta qawmee yaAAlamoona قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ

 Ù‚يل ادخل الجنة قال يا ليت قومي يعلمون

 Ø¨Ù…ا غفر لي ربي وجعلني من المكرمين
کہ میرے رب نے میری مغفرت فرما دی ہے اور مجھے عزت و قربت والوں میں شامل فرما دیا ہے

 ÙˆÙ…ا انزلنا علي قومه من بعده من جند من السماء وما كنا منزلين
اور ہم نے اس کے بعد اس کی قوم پر آسمان سے (فرشتوں کا) کوئی لشکر نہیں اتارا اور نہ ہی ہم (ان کی ہلاکت کے لئے فرشتوں کو) اتارنے والے تھے

Yousuf AliAnd We sent not down against his People, after him, any hosts from heaven, nor was it needful for Us so to do.

 Ø§Ù† كانت الا صيحة واحدة فاذا هم خامدون
(ان کا عذاب) ایک سخت چنگھاڑ کے سوا اور کچھ نہ تھا، بس وہ اُسی دم (مر کر کوئلے کی طرح) بُجھ گئے

Yousuf AliIt was no more than a single mighty Blast, and behold! they were (like ashes) quenched and silent.

[036:030]		Ya hasratan AAalaalAAibadi ma ya/teehim min rasoolin illa kanoobihi yastahzi-oona يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُون

 ÙŠØ§ حسرة علي العباد ما ياتيهم من رسول الا كانوا به يستهزؤون
ہائے (اُن) بندوں پر افسوس! اُن کے پاس کوئی رسول نہ آتا تھا مگر یہ کہ وہ اس کا مذاق اڑاتے تھے

Yousuf AliAh! Alas for (My) Servants! There comes not a messenger to them but they mock him!
